To minimize damage, before we arrive you can start:

• If possible, try to work out where the water is coming from and call a plumber if necessary.
  
• Go through the loose items that are wet and start taking photos and documenting them for insurance purposes.
  
• If it is safe to do so, wipe off excess water on any wood furniture.
  
• If safe to do so, lift up wood and metal furniture and place aluminum foil or plastic between the legs and wet carpeting to prevent rust stains or wood stains from staining the carpet.
  
• Turn on Air Conditioner in summer or heat in winter. The HAVAC system is a great dehumidifier and the temperature should remain between 72 - 76 degrees.
  

• Do Not: Leave wet fabrics standing in water.
• Do Not: Enter rooms with standing water if electricity is still on.
• Do Not: Try to remove carpet from the tack strip by yourself. This can delaminate the carpet and tack strips can be dangerous especially if it is not clean water.
• Do Not: Use a shop vac or your regular vacuum to suck up water, unless recomended to by us.
• Do Not: Use TVs or other appliances while standing on wet floors.
• Do Not: Place newspaper down on wet carpets as the ink will transfer to your carpets.
